Property Maintenance Tools & Products (US version)

If you’re based in the US here’s a list of tools that might help you to get started. I’ve tried to find US equivalents of stuff I either currently use, have used or would consider using – please read the note at the bottom of this page for a bit more information.

It’s a bit of a challenge to keep this list up to date so please excuse any errors or dead links. If you’re in the UK visit this page instead. These are all affiliate links and you can read more about that here.

A quick note about buying your own carpentry tools

I have a very simple attitude to buying tools – I buy the best tool I can afford to get the job done. I’m not tied to any particular brand or sponsor and prefer to keep options open so that I can buy the best tool available. Obviously some of the tools used are old and you can’t buy them any more, so I’ve tried to find equivalent newer models where possible, or models I’d consider purchasing when my tools finally give up the ghost. As such this list is constantly evolving so please keep checking back! Do your own homework – these product links are just intended as a starting point so you know what I’d consider using.
